Veejay and Venus
VEEJAY FLORESCA
HOLIDAY 2010
His inspiration is the iconic statue of Venus de Milo. Accdg to him, It's imperfect, unfinished but very beautiful...
the crumpled texture is just my thing
its as if the pieces have life in it.
this is like a statue except that its fluid and alive
just look at the asymmetry,, oh god! i die.
My collection will celebrate unusual silhouettes, deformed structures, uneven proportions, unfinished details, textures and a lot of draping. I can really say that "imperfections make the clothes more interesting.."- Veejay Floresca
Ive always been a fan of Veejay ever since Preview Magazine featured the young filipino designers including him in 2008. All the more i became a fan when i followed him on Project Runway Philippines Season 1.
His Holday 2010 collection was magical and enchanting in an odd kind of way. There is something peculiar and awkward yet glamorous with the silhouette, the cut, the lines, the draping and structure. Knowing Veejay's usual clean and well tailored dresses, this is indeed a surprise... a very beautiful one, of course. i LOVE the imperfections that he injected in his pieces.. i am TRULY a fan of this movement in fashion. You see, Its alright to have an ugly and weird element in you sometimes , it definitely kills the boredom and it brings out the interesting side of you. True to form , everyone was gushing in awe after the show. I must say that Veejay is a crowd favorite.
Veejay is definitely one of the young designers to watch out for.
Check his blog and site
