dear denim
MARQUES ' ALMEIDA's (Portugal-based label by Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida) take on denim changed my perspective to the fabric. Here in Manila, denim is a staple and it's quite wearisome already since you see it everyday on almost everyone in every season. I once told myse lf that denim isn't for me. It's heavy and rough on the skin and too american. But I'm taking it back. Just look at how the magnificent duo did in their S/S 2012 collction. Nostalgia is such a great tool in cultivating an inspiration. They condensed all elements from their HS memories and their love for 90's... The lookbook was like a 90's mtv too. I love that they explored more making the looks and pieces not contrived and too "in your face-grunge."
For me, There was a palpable aesthetic of ACNE and margiela here . The structural composition, deconstruction of the fray details and the free-spiritedness. Such a brave collection. I want to see more of them

So weird i was just about to search this designer as i seen a top i liked in UK's Elle and then i see this amazing post of yours!!!! Love love love this collection,i need a piece desperately :D

i actually saw it on tevis' blog and she reminded me in a way to blog the designer.. saw the designs just last week but i forgot to do a blog post since i went on a trip. love u. the denim will look great on u! you look good in whites and ice blue.
