PROUDRACE F/W 2012////Dark Waves
The much-awaited collection of global local brand PROUDRACE traversed a seaward approach with their inspiration. Mixing the culture and sensibilities of street style and surfers to create body fitting dresses with a palpable 90's modern vibe, of course. The designers were also drawn to how mysterious and charismatic sharks are hence the sublime graphic prints on the shirts which I will surely buy. One of the things that I remember during the 90's were the ubiquity of SHARK movies (JAWS, Deep Blue Sea, Open Water , etc) and this collection is a fresh nostalgic approach.
The progressive brand used a mix of materials and fabrics for each piece. Acrylic and cotton blend were used for the outerwear. For the leather goods and details, they used Nubuck calfskin ans sheep shearling for some outwerwears. Cotton stretch cotton and twill will always be staples in their collection. It was the perfect mix to produce our Fall/Winter Collection. There's also an addition of statement baseball cap which is undeniably a hot-selling item this season.
The label kept it simple and youthful with a selection of separates for fall and winter as well as ideal transitional pieces. It’s not all dark this season with the inclusion of blush in our usual all-black palette.

This season we were inspired by surfers, thugs and sharks; a random mix if you think about it but for us it was the randomness that made it exciting.
